I've been neglecting the volks all summer. Drove it in the spring and that was it. Part of that was because l got tired of crappy brakes lol so finally had some time and ambition to get these brakes better. Chev discs up front and stock swing axle on rear. Always stopped but had a spongy pedal. Not confidence inspiring to say the least. Anyways we spent all day sat going through the brakes. After disassembling and inspectiong almost everthing other than the rear brake adjustment. I learn that you have to adjust each shoe separately presto high and firm pedal at least we know the master cylinder is clean inside and out, the calipers are the same, all the hoses are clean and not swollen, the brake pushrod clearance is dead on, how to install a residual pressure valve.and the front caliper mounting plates are dead on and anything else you can think of related to the brakes other than actualling setting the rear brakes correctly!

Funny how somehow overlooking something simple can lead to a head banging problem. That, of course, has never happened to me.

Got the new tires the other day. wire wheeled the pans, welded the pinholes up and have one coat of bedliner paint on. Another coat in 15 minutes. One thing though, M&T said my upholstery and carpet won't be here for 6-8 weeks!:yelling :

Nope, the last week or so was pretty hectic. I did pick up a set of copper core (the real thing) ignition wires, but haven't had the time to install 'em. I plan to do this in my 'spare time.'

I'm sure you have been busy, most likely spending your spare time sitting by the door ready to evacuate at a moments notice, or have they gotten things under any kind of control

I plan to start doing something in my spare time, lately I haven't been getting but about 2 hours of sleep a day, I just wish I could get it all at one time, still waiting for a doctor to call me to set up an appointment to see if it's PTSD keeping me from sleeping, my wife and I have been pretty stressed out for most of this year, it's been rough, but I'm trying to keep positive, it's gonna be a great end

I had fun this evening when I traded an old bumper jack from one of my Olds Cutlass's for 3 good tires on alloy wheels, I took the ferry across the river to get there, it's 2 miles to the ferry and another 12 miles to where I met the guy, the ferry was closed on the way home so I had a nice drive home following the road along the river, I think it has one 1/4 mile section that was straight with no hills, that was a 26 mile drive, that road has always been one of my favorite drives

I prefer, "Mister Slacker." It has a more formal ring to it. Today it's supposed to rain a bit,,,yesss!!! Meanwhile, the SC is parked out front, awaiting my 'deslackerification, while mostly under a tarp.

Hey Mister Slacker, so did the rain get onto anything important on the SC, or did you half slacking rear tarp it up enough to keep those things dry?
Let me know what all you've done in order to qualify for your deslackerization certificate
I got mine today after I closed up the garage, I just need to cut 4 more sides on one part to complete the hex, I just forgot to make it a tapered reamer hex, more work, I need to work on my Wizardly hex skills

Ah, you want the not-really-coveted Volksrod Deslackerfication Cert. (suitable for framing)? Weel, as it's based on what you 'haven't done' as opposed to what you 'have done.' I'd say that due to the high caliber of work you're constantly turning out, you fail the basic requirement of qualifying as a 'slacker.'
In hopes of avoiding the Cert myself, I've got big plans tomorrow for the Single Cab.

With what we just bought, the slacking may reach an all-time high.: thumbsup:
By the way, got the right floor covered with tar and aluminum sheet; used on roofing. Try to get the driver's side done in the morning then taking my wife shopping for a new Ekornes chair and then dinner.

Floors are done. Delayed shopping until tomorrow. Mowed the lawn instead then grilled some bratwurst.

Very nice, I so need to put that stuff on my floors, I did the back seat area and it made a big difference in noise, but it's still noisey, I should also put something in for a roof liner, just not exactly what I can find for next to nothing, that's why I haven't put anything up yet, next time I see a BIG cardboard box in the trash I'll stop, strap it to the outside and go home to paint it and put it in

It's about $15 a roll at HD and I only used 1.25 rolls. Sticky as hell though. You don't just peel it all off and stick it. Put down a corner and then pull a little back, stick that down, peel a little more. Then go over it with a mini roller. My FIL run a carpet company so he loaned me his mini linoleum roller. Worked great! If you get air bubbles, just pop with a blade and then smoosh it down. It seals right up. Odorless too.

Yeah Jeff seats are easy, till you did mine, they aren't like original seats altho they use regular VW track/mounts, they did sit up way to high so I lowered them, they are such a tight fit getting in it took me an hour each, I'm afraid to even try to get them out because I may never get them back in

How 'bout if you machined up and left and right hand custom seat poppers, with the re-install setting of course?

Just got my lovesac! Okay, start with the jokes, the company already knows all of them. It's a HUGE "beanbag" (actually filled with foam) and it's crazy comfortable! Saw it in the store last week and had to have one. My couch is breaking down so I needed something to sit on. I got the supersac with the chinchilla cover. The cover should be here in a few days. It weighs 75 pounds and will expand to 6 feet across.
