I'm not sure, but I think the motor is crap, was it just the motor you were trying to run? or the wiper assy? wiper shafts siezed up

run straight 12v to the motor, just not for long, it won't fry it, it will just run 2x as fast. That's a good test. Or just hook your multimeter to the voltage drop and see what volts your getting both with the motor hooked up and without. It'll at least give you some clue

Thanks Ill try all of the above. I didnt check the damn shafts, I gotta feeling they could be seized. If they are thats what ruined the motor.

Easy fix, just go to the store and pick up a sheet metal screw, syringe, and a jar of magic smoke.
Drill a hole in the wiper motor the proper size for the screw and take the syringe (sp?) And fill the motor back up with magic smoke, and plug the hole back up.

LOL
Sorry, couldn't resist. I really don't know what is wrong, or if you did something wrong, but the advice you have already been given is a good start.
Unfortunately, when you see the magic smoke, its too late and you can't put it back.

It was smoking and the voltage drop was real hot because you were pulling too many amps. If the shafts are siezed, or even just hard to move the arms and all the linkage, it takes a lot more power. Power is amps, and amps make heat. Try disconnecting the linkage and see of the motor will operate with no load. You may need to replace the motor of you got it too hot. The voltage drop should be OK.

OK took all of the advice.. The motor is good. the linkage was seized......The voltage drop fried. That is money pissed away. I put the small 10 dollar empi drop in after I cleaned the linkage. Everything is perfect now, working wipers. They say that the resistor gets hot, it is mounted on the dash. I think all will be ok.
