this stuff was all in my recent bfa exhibition:
the decklid/ artist statement. (dammit i should have brought the text file)

separation anxiety. (i still don't think this one is done)

gubgrirwodniw. (this is a pretty old piece, i got a $100 award in the student honours show with it)

it's not a car, it's a connection: (this was done to honour my dad, i gave it to him for fathers day)

technicolour: (don't think it's done yet either)

stungray: (yeah)

asi es la vida: (the strips are old bike tires)

60 small pieces: (these were done very quickly, in an assembly-line like process and then displayed in formation as a single piece.)

this is ricky recaro, people were riding it at the reception!

this bike was included to show how art can be something besides a painting.

that's a wicked bike, ichoptop!

in my artists statement i made the argument that a stock car or bike or anything is no different than a blank canvas.

I completely agree. luckily for me there are alot more people with empty skin than there is canvas, so I will always have a place to work.

I do plenty of art in my spare time, specifically painting and drawing. I'm gonna go to school for sculpture and learn metal-working, machining and such, and with what I'm also learning about cars, hopefully I'll be able to put them together and I'll do fabrication and art for a living(hopefully).
heres a quick pastel I did

With all this time off after the accident, Lora has been painting up a storm. So last night she calls me into her art room to show me the latest finished creation. She has been working on this one for almost two months and it's huge... 5' X 3 1/2'. SHe asked if I could help her hang it and suggests it might be easier to carry from the back. As I tilt it off the wall to pick it up I notice some writing on the back. It says "For my husband" (and some other mushy stuff :P ) I was speechless. She worked on this painting for a long time and put a lot of effort into it and it's the biggest painting she's done so far. It now hangs above the couch in the living room.

So did you do the build or just the paint or the whole damn thing? Either way that is one good lookin' sickle.

I didn't do this, but I really like it. Notice the gold flake in the sticker:

Thought I'd bring this thread back from the dead. Here's a stool I padded and made a 2 toned tuck and roll cover for. I don't know if it's art but it will be used by Lora for sitting at her drawing table doing art so there is an art connection

Anyone else been up to anything lately?

Tryin' to keep this thread alive!
I've got a couple of contributions this week. First is a '62 Galaxie fender spear (now used as a hood ornament). Flying eyebal done in one shot, the wings can be seen on the spear in the background. That's a quarter beside the eyeball for size comparison.

First try at doing a background to stripe on using Unkl Ian's blend tech. The stripes are actually on it now but the damn camera batteries died so pics will be coming later.

Last one for today, some stripes on my plastic toolbox

Thanks for lookin'

Bill
