Default Decklid Rain Tray
Location: Glen Burnie, Maryland

So around 15 years ago, I was young and stupid and never thought I'd leave California.. I got tired of banging my head on the rain try every time i needed to reach deep in the engine compartment and (VERY) stupidly, took it out and threw it away..

Now, I live in Maryland and am wishing I had it back.. We had a bad enough storm that I actually had a cylinder fill up with water while it was parked one weekend..

If anyone has a tray that will fit the decklid of a 72 std, I'd be interested in negotiating a price..

here's a pick from google images if you aren't sure what I'm talking about:

nevermind.. found one on the samba that's meant for hoods with 4 sets of louvers (it doesn't have the big U shaped cut out the one in the picture above has..)

cost me $110 including shipping, but if it prevents a hydro lock induced stranding, it's worth it.

In the 36 years of owning VW's I have never had any problem with that....... yet
I used to leave my rail buggy sit out from spring to summer, I pulled the engine in the winter, well except one, talk about a cold ride on a 25 degree night
Luckily now I can keep the back half of my Volksrod under the carport, but in the winter I park with the front windsheild under the car port to keep it from frosting up or getting covered with ice
