A.R.E. made one very similar, in the 70's.
I created this one from a pic.

I'm stuck right now waiting for MSD to send me the "assembly parts kit" for the billet vw distributor, so I was out in the garage staring at my engine and tinkering a little..

I happened to notice that one of the three oil pan studs didn't seem fully seated, so I grabbed my stock oil plate and tried fitting it on that half of the case (the 3/4 side is on my engine stand, the 1/2 side is on the floor, i haven't checked it's studs yet..).. it didn't look right, so I grabbed the new billet oil plate I just bought a few weeks ago (JayCee Mag Plate with o-rings, looks nifty and they claim the magnet is strong enough to eliminate the need for the screen, we'll see...) and sure enough, one of the studs is sticking out enough that the shoulder is easily between .5mm and 1mm above the case, causing the plate to not sit level.. I guess that explains why I had oil dripping off the front of the engine (this was the forward most stud), it must have been running down the case..

anyway, turned that stud in a couple of turns to get the shold slightly under the case (that stud hole goes all the way through..), then decided to take out the fuel pump studs.. I have the fuel pump block off/coil clamp piece, but when I bought it, the engine was still assembled and installed and i couldn't get the studs to come loose, so I just used washers the regular bolts.. kinda chewed up the billet block off a little since it came with allen bolts.. got the studs out and re-tapped the holes since the threads were a little rough..

Now I just gotta clean out all the shavings. Gonna try and find someone other than Car Craft to take the case to to have the oil galleys drilled and tapped for plugs so I can get everything completely clean. When I had it drilled and tapped for full flow, they didn't open everything up..

Ordered the MSD assembly kit yesterday afternoon, but they're out of stock, they think it may be ready next week, so we'll see, I hope it is, tired of putting my build time back and back and back..

Build time may be moved back but I'm sure you'd rather have it done right than half-assed and not work.

Did a pretty dumb move yesterday. I started work on my Porsche engine again. I had to make 2 parts out of 2 VW genny stands. I used a cutting wheel & flapper wheel. Had a couple of flare ups with all the magnesium dust. Didn't think anything about it cause I was smart enough to do it outside. The dumb move thought came to me after I was done & clean up. I was covered head to toe in magnesium dust. That wasn't the smartest thing I have done! I got lucky this time.

Cutting rust from behind rear panel on my squareback. Gotta get this done so I can re-assemble my rod and get that moving ahead.
Still have a heater tube and sill to replace too!

Well since it is after midnight where I am, yesterday I watched my son and the rest of the San Jose Youth Symphony perform to a packed house at the Sarajevo National Theater! This is their first concert in a five concert Eastern Europe tour!

Yesterday I went to work, then left a couple of hours early for a special assignment from work...

AFN Radio had to interview 5 Finger Death Punch and the Rockstar Mayhem festival. 5FDP is super supportive of the troops, so the guy in Radio wanted to bring some servicemembers with him. An Air Force guy came to get some video shout outs for us to air on AFN TV, and I tagged along to stand there and do nothing..

We spent about 30 minutes in their tour bus doing the video/radio recording, then took our free tickets and VIP wrist bands and went in to enjoy the show.

We wound up with seats about 50 feet from the stage.

First concert I've been to in a long time and it was pretty cool, crazy tired today though, and voice/throat is all screwed up from cigarettes and yelling.. but had a great time.

Yesterday I spent the day inside drinking as much water as I could possibly drink, think I ended up with just a bit under 4 gallons of fluids, had to prepare for a fasting blood test this morning

Seems none of my numbers are where they are supposed to be, last Tuesday I had blood labs done, my Hemoglobin was 7.7, supposed to be 13.5 to 18 for a normal person, that explains why I've been so tired & cold, my Creatine jumped from 1.6 to 2.4 (Creatine is how they tell how well my kidney is working) it always jumps up a couple digits when summer is at it's hottest due to my staying outside most all day long, which inturn dehydrates me & raises my Creatine
Last Thursday I was gonna be hospitalized, but I made a deal with my doc that I'd stay inside all weekend & push as much fluid as I possibly could, I was pissing every 45 minutes by 7:00 pm

Anyway I didn't sleep at all last night because I was worried about my blood lab numbers from this morning, they took my blood at 8:15 am, most times by noon my doc gets the results, they haven't called me yet, so I'm taking this as a good sign, if they call right away that usually means something is wrong, so tomorrow morning I'll call my doc at about 10 am just to see what all my numbers are, hopefully I'll avoid 2 nights in the hospital getting a kidney biopsy on my transplant kidney
I won't sign the paper this time saying I approve of it, it can end up ruining my transplanted kidney, which in turn mean dialysis

Wish me luck

Ron

Major mojo for you my friend!! I'm thinking that putting your own high fluid spin is a good thing. Best of luck.

Well I avoided the hospital, seems everything went back to normal except my hemoglobin, that explains why I'm so tired all the time as well as why I'm cold when it's 80 degrees

All is good for the next few weeks, I'll just need to spend every Sunday drinking as much fluid as possible so I'm hydrated Monday mornings when I hafta visit the vampires office

Not yet, I blame it on the meds I take everyday, first they started on my brain, now they are eating away at my insides

As long as I wake up each day, It's the start of a Great Day, then get out of bed & do what I do 4 to 5 days a week, it's a celebration

Yesterday, I celebrated by cleaning up our basement floor, 3 inches of rain in 2 hours gave us a puddle 4 feet by 8 feet, maybe 2 inches deep, that's at the floor drain
I felt rather blessed, all my neighbors got water at least knee deep of more, & we live at the lowest end of the street right next to a large storm water retention pond, it equalizes life out

Take the good with the bad, life is Great

Ron

Well, yesterday and today, I was making patterns for my firewall and console for project V8Square. I make my patterns out of 1/8" Masonite and then when all fits and I am happy with it, then I transfer to my metal. Works for me. Still, I am toying around with the idea of a sedan delivery. I would just fill in the recess where the glass normally goes, not totally smooth on the outside. Give me some opinions. Oh, I am so glad I decided to a/c my garage last year. Our Midwest summer this year has sucked.

Redoing my Coyote rear end. Taking a water break right now. Just too many little faubles to add up to a major uh-oh. Taking out the rear torsion, putting a stock one back in, moving it forward in front of the transmission and extending a set of trailing arms 6 13/16". Basically, the torsion will be setting where the battery would normally go. Just go with me on this one, it's all about clearances and center of gravity. Nutty but it has to be done. I'm going to refab the front suspension mounts too as they seem weak and I need to move the whole assembly 2" forward.
