Once the lugs are in place, take a sharp felt pen and run a thin line down the side of each lug to the wheel. They should stay in line. If you find they are misaligned, something is up.

Good idea, thank ya, I'm gonna loctite them too just in case
First I'm gonna wait till the temperature gets up above 30 degrees, these single digit and teen temps just suck, I don't mind driving my Volksrod so much in the cold but the heck with working on anything

Another sleepless night, that's no fun either, been taking melatonin for the past few months but I'm only able to sleep 2 or 3 hours for 2 or 3 nights, insomnia sucks

Well I fixed the Batmobile, I'm gonna cal it that because it lost a wheel
After I was finished and putting my tools away the woman next door was out, her other half drives a tow truck part time, I called him to see if he was driving it the night the wheel came off, he wasn't, anyway she was telling me about 2 months ago the right rear wheel came off her car just as she pulled to the side of the interstate, when the police came he looked at and asked her if she has any enemies because he thought it looked like it was tampered with
Then Friday a friend that lives about a quarter mile away on the main street we are off of said the lugs were loose on his car, I just wonder if any other random neighbors within a quarter mile of us has had any lugs come loose

Found out last night, want cops to get there in a hurry? Tell them you're holding a drugged out trespasser at gunpoint~
At 6:45pm, some dumbass on drugs wandered into neighbor's fenced in yard, our dogs and his going off. I called neighbor, was asleep, (our dogs both bark at each other often so he kinda ignores barking now) , I call 911 at 648, neighbor called them back 10mins later , they were up the road 2 miles when sirens went off,
Guy wouldn't give up his name, cop #2 finally got bits of info, changed his coy attitude to pissed off when they called him by his name and he has a record. Taken to hosp for drug test, something to counteract it, then off to jail.
So much for quiet country life. Second time.
15mins for 2 cars to show up. Takes me 10 to get to town and the sheriff's dept. at 60mph.........And that's with 3 stop lights. oh well, they got there.
Love my 2nd amendment.

The only way to get Police out fast is say there is a gun involved but be fast to summit when they show up. Police don't get a direct line to 911 so all they know is gun and trespasser.

So I've been busy for the past 2 weeks, I started off in the cold milling a set of soft jaws for my big lathe, it was super cold out so I had to pull the garage door down, the only problem with that is it makes it tough to squeeze between the garage door and all the crap I have sitting between the Eldorado the engine sitting in front of it and the door, so I decided that I'm gonna go ahead and put the engine in to give me the 5 feet of space where the engine is with all the crap stacked around it and on it, first thing I had to do was add oil to my engine hoist and raise the old engine up and get all the parts off it and put then on the new engine, I hope to start putting the parts on the new engine this weekend
Then this past Friday my oil pump came for my oil burning forge, I pur it on Sunday and hooked it up to kerosene and it fired right up, so Monday and yesterday I took the fuel tank and mounted it up above the forge oil pump, I hope today to mix kerosene with used motor oil and fire it up and get it adjusted then see how long it takes to get a piece of steel red hot, I may need to adjust the oil and kerosene mixture but I'm just happy to have fire at this point
Here's a real short video of the forge running on just kerosene, once I add used motor oil it should give me a much hotter flame

https://youtu.be/JCQ899TD9dU

I hope to get a video of it running with a 50/50 mixture of kerosene and used motor oil

Well, I'm not dead, just crazy busy. The weather has seriously cut into my car time, not to mention life in general. Got a new teaching gig and am trying to catch up with house stuff.
Looking forward to getting our new fastback out in a month or so.
Okay, back to grading...

Put our brand new RV up for sale. Just not the direction we want to go.
https://rev24tb.weebly.com/

Trying to sell our Ekornes chair too.

Have a garage full of stuff I'm now trying to clear out. Sold a 83"WB VW pan 2 days ago, so that helps. Got a long way to go. Need to sell the dune buggy and my cafe' racer next.

I had my fire suppression go off on my food trailer. Just as I opened, so I spent half the day cleaning. Then brought it to the installer and paid him $1000 to to refill and reset. I guess those cold days when I turn the fan off fatigued the links and one failed. Lesson learned.

Wow! That Sucks Big time! Shouldn't be that easy to set it off by "stressing" it... the installer should do something to remedy that situation and prevent it from happening again as well as pay to do it all...

I was running the fan very little. Being still cold out outside, it was my heat. I froze yesterday and ran the 100% of the time. Does suck!

Sounds like faulty sensors to me, but I admit I'm not an expert. Still, this does not sound like it should have happened.

Well, I think the guy said the links are good to 240. The hood gets real hot with the fan off. The fryer is set at 350. With the fan on in this cold weather, the hood is cold to touch. The links are up in the hood behind the grease filters. The whole system is manual with cable tension. Link breaks, system fires. It's just a little soft metal nub that holds it from firing. Simple and sucks. Lol.

Have to seal a few more spots that let air and water in and tighten the steering box. Got so much play in the wheel!

Just put retractable 3 point seatbelts in Rosie. Had to make a custom bracket on the bottom to hold both points. Back is killing me and the weather is damp and cold. Felt good to actually DO something though!

Parts for the welder arrived today. Now I get to plan out my angle of approach I disassembled the foot pedał to get a better sense of what wires go where. I figured out how to wire up 4 of the five wires.

Just got a lead on a 1974 semi-auto Ghia, original owner, 47,000 original miles, new engine but doesn't run. I need it like a hole in the head, but what the hell, right?

Back in 85 when I was replacing all the front suspension parts on my 74 Cutlass, I started off with the tie rod ends, the inners fit but the outters didn't, brought em back along with my original parts, turns out somebody swapped the parts from a Ford into the Olds box, they did the same thing with the ball joints, uppers were right but the lowers were wrong, same thing, somebody swapped the parts into different boxes, was the biggest PITA thing I ever did until I bought a starter for the same car in 89 from AutoZone, I splurged for the one with the lifetime warranty, after the 4th one went bad I took it back and asked for my money back, I quit buying parts from there when Oriely's opened up a half mile down the road, the only time I buy stuff from them is if it's a Sunday, otherwise I go to the place that opened up in 1962, I don't know what I'm gonna do if they ever close, they have always treated me right
