Took the fuel tank out of Blitzen - removed what should have been the fuel line going into the tunnel, but nothing came out. Realized a few minutes later, some PO had added a fuel line of his own so a pint or so of old gas got spilled . . . . nasty! Decided not to do anymore plasma cutting or spark throwing until the vapors disappear.

I'm getting the finishing pin stripes done on the Model T- nothing fancy, or gaudy, trying to keep the "straight outta Rod and Custom, circa 1964" vibe going....
photos to follow, when it's all done.

Doing the back panel below the rear window, the dash, and the (old, in the cowl) gas filler door....

PS-Unkl Ian, what is the material you are using? aluminum, plastic, what is it? It's looking a lot like some quick bolt on fenders, I had envisioned for the Model T...

Finally got the rusted out panels off the Single Cabs bed..and found a bit of rust underneath...nuts. Cutting the spot welds out was pretty easy with a couple of bits made for that purpose. But the bits were just a tad small and I still had to pry 'em. My hats off to anyone replacing the whole bed. By Wednesday I should start welding the replacement pieces in (He said hopefully), and add some extra support and nuts to hold the front roll bar/rack support.

I put the cast iron heating stove for our cabin back together after sandblasting, fabricating new stove bolts, re-applying the stove black finish and cutting window openings in the door so we can see the fire while it burns away...

It is going to MN with us next month and will get installed with the stove pipe chimney and pass-thru the roof.

I still need to get and install the fire or mica glass for the door.

those look good and sturdy.. you can release em from inside right? California makes it mandatory to have emergency latches so you don't become trapped INSIDE during like a fire or something..

I never understood why anyone would want to live some where that you had to be a prisioner in your own home. If I wanted to look out my window & see bars. I would rather sit in jail & have everyone else pay for my room & board. Sorry if this is out of line but that how I truly feel.

I traded the money pit of a Dodge D50 I had for a 77 Chevy 4x4. I may have sunk over $3500 into the motor alone in the dodge, but that son of a bitchen piece of shit, robble robble robble. I just got tired of looking at it and putting money into it that I would never see again.
The Chevy needs some work, but its a Chevy, I can find parts for it (if I don't have them already) and it isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg to get them.

I took the racks off the side, and the tire carrier off the front and it just doesn't have the "grandpa" truck look to it anymore. I think they might go back on

I had an 89' Dodge Ram 50 4x4. It kept cracking the head but I used to beat on it and it kept coming back for more. Great torque. Had a set of Yokohamas on it that would never wear down! I miss that truck!

Screwed up back and all Ian and I got under the bus and installed the new tierods. Tightened things up waiting on the drag link and brake hard lines. I miss my bug, but can't wait to start on the 54' 3100, but need my back in better shape to get the cab off and start on the frame repair. Take care all.

Hey-- What's wrong with a grandpa truck ? I have a 1981 Chevy 3/4 ton, 4-speed and I love it. Have owned it for 20 years.
Go old chevy trucks are getting hard to find. Glad you got one. Pop

Fabricated the seventy-something-degree tube bend for the upper '38 Plymouth radiator hose at my buddy's shop. Today it's rig up the pressure bleeder (built a couple of years ago from plans posted by one of the VR family, thanks!)to bleed the brakes on the rolling chassis. Checked out the '51 Aston Martin DB-1 (customer's car) to see what it would take to start it after twenty years of sitting (woo hoo!). Engine is a twin cam six, lots of alloy and just gorgeous.

Don't get me wrong. we all like our ways of life where we are. I'm not bashing you. I'm bashing the low lifes that need to steal. I have to have my mountains and freedom. I lived in DC and hardcore downtown Philly for several years. I had to try it for my self. I loved it for years but I got tired of it. Before I put bars up I think I would get my self one of those cute rotweiller dogs. I like dogs more than I like bars.

Speaking of low life thieves, and what I did yesterday, or should I say noticed, was that my son's car got broken into and they stole his stereo/GPS small screen tv or whatever it was

He got it used and it didn't work right, I just seen it over the weekend when he said look what I have

Thieves are the only thing in life that really bother me, IF I would ever catch someone stealing from me, I could probably kill them, bury them and NEVER lose a bit of sleep over it ever

I prolly should have put this in the Today F*** Sucks thread, but after the mention of low lifes I couldn't resit

Used up another 5lbs of recycled glass "sand" last night and cleaned up a TINY bit more of my engine compartment.. at this rate I'll probably need at least 25lbs of the crap to fully clean it up..

Wish I could collect if off the floor, sift it and reuse it, seems like such a waste to sweep it up and throw it away..

but, my crappy $50 Harbor Freight media blasting kit seems to be working fairly decently.

Went to the KCW 10 year open house last night. Lots of fine VWs around the shop. Some waiting in line to start, some in progress, some almost done, and a lot of finished rides & the proud owners. One guy ( he works at Paimters Grinding in Denver ) drove all the way from the front range to Grand Juction (about 250 miles ) in his open buggy...part of it through a rain storm. Pics following. Check 'em out and tell me what you see. If you want to see alot of pics of the get together, John posted up a bunch on the KCW (kustomcoachwerks.com) web site.

Drove so far North and West in Vermont that I was almost in New York and/or Canada, to pick up a transmission for my 64 bus. Swapped a bunch of parts for some of the things I needed for the bus, ended up spending more money on gas than actual cash for parts.
