Re: opinions on dual carbs
I have run 40 Kadrons on a 1600 dual port with no problems. They gave a very noticeable power increase. Here is a good link for Kadrons, lots of info http://www.lowbugget.com/

This place too!

Kads with a nice cam, a bit of headwork and a quality exhaust are supposed to be a great combo!

Re: opinions on dual carbs
I have been running a set of 32/34 single barrel Solex carbs on a 1600 dual port for a year & a half with no problems
I do run them on the rich side during the hot summer months to keep it from running to hot, then when December I lean them down a tiny bit until March, that's when I set them back so they are rich

Re: opinions on dual carbs
"shorten the life of the engine"

you are wise to question advice, even from "experts"
duals kick ass,vw ran them on T3s and they seem to do alright

Re: opinions on dual carbs
I was told they would be to big and give it to much fuel and wash the rings.

Re: opinions on dual carbs
the jets can be changed easily, and the fuel stays vaporized
better cuz the manifolds are shorter and hotter.
A single can wash your rings too

Re: opinions on dual carbs
Just keep them tuned/jetted correct. The engine will last a long time. I have ran 36mm Dellorto's on mine since 1987 and well over 100,000 miles. I have also seen 48 IDA's on a 1600, it all in the tune up.
